Oportunidades para una política energética sostenible

Abstract

The Social Impact Assessment in Energy Sector (EvIS) is a key instrument for Mexican energy policy, since its objective is the harmonization of the interests of the subjects involved in energy projects through governance, so that the acceptance by host communities of these projects is possible, an instrument that in turn allows achieving the Social License to operate. However, it has certain weaknesses that can be taken as areas of opportunity. This article aims to identify in the compulsory and coercive nature of the EvIS, an opportunity for energy policy to be built in a framework of sustainability, as the State has committed at the international level.
