In an almost general way, negative stereotypes have been attributed to pornography for many reasons and it is very possible that it is popularly considered an activity that is not only controversial but clandestine. However, the truth is that it is an industry that legally produces around 97 billion dollars per year. While it is true that there is an alarming amount of pornography of criminal origin, this article analyzes how licit pornography and legal regulation at the global and local levels work. I emphasize consent as the main element that determines the thin boundary between an everyday activity and even the exercise of a right and the commission of a crime.
