Abstract

Social media platforms were originally conceived as spaces for interaction among users. These platforms have become spaces for the dissemination and debate of ideas, leading them to be hailed as the new standard-bearers of freedom of expression. However, they have also been used for harmful purposes, such as spreading misinformation or identifying vulnerable users and groups. This collaboration will address the legal implications of social media for freedom of expression in the United States, the European Union, and, primarily, Mexico.
